Michael Bierut on Typography



In a video interview with The Atlantic, Michael Bierut talks about typography, covering such topics as Stanley Kubrick’s favorite font, the cover design of The Catcher in the Rye, and the link between phototypesetting and Free Love.

This interview accompanied an article about typography by Virginia Postrel that appeared in The Atlantic January/February 2008 issue.

ABOUT THE CREATOR

Michael Bierut studied graphic design at the University of Cincinnati, and has been a partner in the New York office of Pentagram since 1990. Michael is a Senior Critic in Graphic Design at the Yale School of Art.
